Domestic
Domestic Drain Descaling
Scale removal for older cast iron and clay drainage, recovering flow that has been lost gradually over years.
London sits in a hard water area, and older pipework pays for it. Scale builds on the pipe wall until the bore is a fraction of its original size, and the first symptom is usually slow drainage rather than a blockage.
- Removes limescale, rust scale and hardened deposits
- Recovers flow rate without replacing pipework
- Camera survey before and after so the result is verified
- Sensible maintenance intervals suggested afterwards
How to tell if you need it
Slow emptying baths and basins, gurgling, and blockages that return quickly after clearing all point to a narrowed pipe rather than a one off obstruction.
How descaling works
Mechanical cutting heads and high pressure water remove the deposit from the pipe wall in stages. We survey first to check the pipe is sound enough for the process, because descaling a fractured pipe is not appropriate.
Keeping it clear afterwards
Once the bore is restored, sensible use and a periodic jetting visit will usually keep it that way for years.
