How High Pressure Water Jetting Keeps Your Drains Flowing

How high pressure jetting clears blockages and keeps drains running freely across London and Essex properties.

A drain that flows freely one week can be blocked the next if grease, silt and roots are left to build up. High pressure water jetting is one of the most effective ways to keep pipework clear for the long term.

What high pressure jetting actually does

A jetting unit pumps water through a hose and specialist nozzle at high pressure, cutting through grease, scale and debris stuck to the pipe wall. Unlike a simple rod, which pushes a path through a blockage, jetting cleans the full internal surface of the pipe.

This means the water not only clears whatever is causing the immediate blockage, it also flushes out the smaller build up that would otherwise cause the next one.

Why it works better than rodding alone

Rodding can break through a clog quickly, which makes it useful for an emergency call out, but it does not remove the layer of fat, soap and grime lining the pipe. Over time that lining thickens and the drain blocks again, often within weeks.

Jetting strips that lining back, which is why many of our engineers use it alongside rodding on the same visit, particularly for kitchen waste runs and shared drains serving several properties.

Where jetting is most useful

  • Kitchen and commercial catering drains affected by fat and grease
  • Long drain runs where a hand rod cannot reach the blockage
  • Root ingress in older clay pipework
  • Silted gullies and yard drains after heavy rain
  • Preventative cleaning ahead of a CCTV drain survey

Combining jetting with a CCTV survey

Once a drain has been jetted, a CCTV drain survey gives a clear view of the pipe with the debris removed, showing whether there is any underlying damage such as a cracked joint or a dip in the pipe run. This is a useful step for landlords and commercial property managers who need evidence of the drain's condition, not just confirmation that it is running again.

Keeping drains clear between visits

Regular jetting on a schedule suited to the property, rather than waiting for a blockage, is often more cost effective than repeated emergency call outs. This is particularly true for restaurants, takeaways and blocks of flats where several households share the same drain run.

If your drains have been slow to clear or you have noticed recurring blockages in the same spot, our team offers high pressure jetting alongside our 24 hour emergency call out service across London and Essex.
